Supporting Table to Table food rescue organization, Kearny Bank provides funding equivalent to 75,000 healthy meals

July 28, 2022

In support of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ-based non-profit Table to Table, KearnyBank Foundation has contributed funding equivalent to the cost of delivering 75,000 healthy meals to food insecure individuals throughout Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic counties.

Focused on “rescuing” food from some 200 donor supermarkets, food distributors, restaurants, and commercial kitchens, Table to Table, NJ’s first food rescue organization, provides same-day, free-of-charge delivery to more than 250 community organizations. These include food pantries, shelters, food banks, day care/after school programs, and senior centers.

“Our organization is a crucial resource for many New Jersey residents, but we could not continue helping if it were not for the generous donations of our supporters like KearnyBank Foundation,” says Ilene Isaacs, Executive Director, Table to Table. “We’ll be using these particular funds to bolster our Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch and Chefs Gala fundraisers, which—like all of our programs—support our mission of feeding hungry neighbors throughout northern New Jersey.”

Since its establishment in 1999, Table to Table has rescued and delivered the equivalent of 295 million meals, saving about 96,000 tons of potentially wasted food from landfills. In 2021 alone, the organization provided 38 million meals.

“The KearnyBank Foundation exists to provide assistance throughout areas where we have the privilege of conducting business,” says Kearny Bank President and CEO Craig Montanaro. “Table to Table’s ongoing efforts to combat hunger across northeastern New Jersey are remarkable. It’s a fantastic organization, and one we’re proud to contribute to.”

During 2021, the KearnyBank Foundation donated a total of more than $700,000 to 63 recipient organizations. The funds were contributed across four specific categories - Education, Quality of Life, Housing, and Community.
