Giving Back Isn’t Optional in Business — It’s Expected

Clients and business owners want companies that they work with to show up for something bigger and represent and give back to greater causes. They want to see their business partners connect and build relationships and show long-term impact. Giving back can be shown in many ways, including monetary donations, volunteer service, charitable work, and just supporting each other.

Kearny Bank supports each client’s individual needs, helping to build lasting relationships and trusted partnerships. Our clients are not just a number; we are there to support them. The same is true of the overall communities we serve. This is what makes me proud of the company in which I work.

Why Giving Back Matters in Business

In our fast-paced world, I frequently remind myself of the need to slow down and notice what is in front of me. As a woman, I often begin the day thinking about household responsibilities, upcoming plans, and a growing list of tasks — even as I sip my morning coffee or tea. In business, it is easy to focus on goals, deadlines, profits, and personal achievement, but I think it is also critical to remember to give back and work together.  Success comes not only from one’s individual strength, but also from the people in our networks.

Women Supporting Women Through Kearny Bank ChangeMakers

Being an ambassador as part of the Kearny Bank ChangeMakers within our financial institution allows me, as a woman, to promote and network with other women who have the same drives.  We lift each other up and help one another develop and grow in our professional roles.  A willingness to give back to each other is a powerful attribute, especially as a woman; we can form great relationships and support the communities that we are involved in.  It doesn’t matter what role we may play; we can be business owners, executives, employees, mothers, daughters, mentors, volunteers, or community leaders. We have a job to give back to each other and lift one another up.  If we start by helping one person, it can turn into a ripple effect in the world, spreading that goodwill beyond any one person’s reach. In addition, your presence speaks about who you are and what and who you represent; when we give back to each other we create a networking family and you build a brand for yourself.

Who Supported You Along the Way?

At every stage of your career, from taking your first step to advancing in your field, someone has likely supported or mentored you. Remember, none of us succeeds alone. Who helped you along the way?  Who can you help next?  That’s where giving back begins. It should be a part of how we do business and be part of our everyday culture. Helping others is my personal moral mission in life and delivering that to my clients as a relationship banker in any form is rewarding to me. I get the opportunity to understand my clients’ goals and aspirations, and to help to find solutions to support their objectives.

The Benefits of Giving Back

When an opportunity to give back comes your way, embrace it. Use your time, resources, or financial support to make a difference. We should lift, connect with, and support everyone around us. I’m proud to work for a bank that encourages these efforts.

Let’s continue giving back rather than missing opportunities to create a lasting impact for our clients, co-workers, family and friends.  Remember, giving back is not always writing a check or sponsoring an event; it’s about sharing our time, our resources, our connections, and mentoring and coaching each other.   Financial institutions must look beyond profit by showing compassion, strengthening relationships, and actively supporting the communities they serve.

Ways to Give Back Without Writing a Check

Volunteering also can lead to a stronger company culture; the employees want to feel like they are part of a bigger cause too and again it doesn’t have to be always big; it can be as simple as:

  • Giving an hour of your time
  • Sharing your knowledge
  • Making an introduction
  • Supporting small businesses
  • Donating when you can
  • Volunteering your skills
  • Celebrating each other’s successes

Embrace opportunities to advance worthy causes and contribute to the greater good. Giving back—in any form—helps you strengthen your network, build your personal brand, and stand out through meaningful action. Ultimately, giving back is simply the right thing to do for everyone.

Supporting the Communities We Serve

At Kearny Bank, corporate social responsibility is not a line item. It shows up in Kearny Bank ChangeMakers, our women in business program, in the grants the KearnyBank Foundation awards to local organizations, and in the relationships our bankers build every day. If you are looking for a banking partner that shows up for more than the transaction, let’s start a conversation.

VP Sales Market Lead

In my current role as VP Sales Market Lead at Kearny Bank, I specialize in business banking, Treasury Management solutions, and relationship development; helping business owners and companies save time, save money, and grow. I am proud to be a change maker ambassador within the bank to also support women in business.

I am actively involved in the community through networking initiatives, financial literacy programs, and the coordination of various nonprofit drives that support residents and organizations throughout the Somerset/Morristown area. I am proud to serve on the Healthier Somerset Board and the coalition, where I collaborate with community leaders and nonprofit organizations to advance initiatives that promote health, wellness, and quality of life throughout Somerset County.

When I am not working, I enjoy disconnecting and outside activities such as hiking, skiing, and just spending time with my family.
