During its recent 2023 “Heart of the Meadowlands Gala,” the Meadowlands YMCA received a $25,000 sponsorship donation from Kearny Bank. Presented by Kearny Bank President and CEO Craig Montanaro and Chairman of the Board John Mazur, Jr., the funds will be utilized to combat food insecurity throughout the Meadowlands YMCA’s area of service – New Jersey’s Meadowlands region.

“For over two decades, Kearny Bank has been an integral supporter of the Meadowlands YMCA and our ongoing mission to serve the community,” said David Kisselback, President and CEO of the Meadowlands YMCA. “Through this generous sponsorship for the Heart of the Meadowlands Gala, they once again prove their commitment to the organization to ensure we can continue to address hunger in our area for the families we serve in this area.”

The gala – held in Carlstadt, NJ at Il Villaggio Restaurant – focused on raising funds for the Meadowlands YMCA’s comprehensive food insecurity program. During 2022, the Meadowlands YMCA – which operates the largest food-distribution center of any YMCA facility in New Jersey – provided food to approximately 13,000 families. Food insecurity worsened significantly with the advent of the pandemic, and since March 2020, the Meadowlands YMCA has provided a staggering 2.5 million meals and eight million pounds of food to its neighbors in need.

“There are few if any more urgent problems than people simply not having enough to eat,” says Montanaro. “So when we were informed that food insecurity was the focus of this year’s gala by our friends at the YMCA – an organization we’ve long been proud to support – we were delighted to contribute. Kearny Bank is committed to helping communities in which it conducts business and I really can’t imagine a better way to allocate our resources than through this cause and this organization.”
